Be prepared for inclement weather

It's that time of the year for inclement weather. If we need to call a snow day, we will use ParentSquare alerts to do so. If you do not have your cellphone number in your ParentSquare account, please be sure to check your emails on mornings where there's a chance of inclement weather.
We also post on the district's social media, website, and on Flash Alert.
The most prevalent bus-related events are snow routes and 2-hour delays. Monitoring the MyRide K12 app will be necessary, as it will reflect affected bus stops and their stop times.
The 2-hour delay will be reflected automatically in student pick-up time presented for the run active that morning.
The snow routes will be reflected by the run name that day, e.g., "Luckiamute Snow Route". The following routes have snow routes affiliated with them. If you live outside of city limits, these routes have alternate stops, so please be aware of your new stop before the snow event.
- Columbia (Bus 38)- Luckiamute (Bus 45)- Metolius (Bus 39)- Rogue (Bus 47)- Siletz (Bus 42)- Yaquina (Bus 46)

Reminder: No weapons on campus

We want to remind students, families, and staff, it is important that students understand that during spirit days, special events, or any other days, fake or real weapons are not allowed on school campuses or district property. This includes water guns or any type of replica toy gun.
Our top priority is safety and security.
Please see the policies on GBJ Weapons in School and JFCJ Weapons in School. Also see policy JFCE/JFCEA Secret Societies and Gang Activities.

New Policy defines communications surrounding safety threats

The board adopted policy EBCA Safety Threats at its Jan. 12 board meeting.The policy clearly defines the communication around safety threats and actions for families and for staff. Safety threat actions are secure, lockdown, shelter in place, or evacuate that are not planned drills.Communication will include:
  1. A general description of the issue that caused the safety threat action to be taken;
  2. The duration of time the safety threat action was taken, from when the action was initiated until it concluded;
  3. Actions taken by the school or district to resolve the situation that caused the safety threat action and actions taken to protect student safety; and
  4. An explanation of how the situation was resolved.
These messages will be sent via ParentSquare to families and staff when needed.
